North Texas Giving Day is Here…

Starting today on Thursday, September 18, from 6 AM to midnight, Soul’s Harbor Homeless Shelter will be participating in North Texas Giving Day. Thanks to help from generous givers and sponsors, Communities Foundation of Texas covers all transaction and technology fees. This means that 100% of every online gift goes directly to the organizations you choose.

An anonymous donor will match gifts up to $15,000, thus making your dollar go even further. Just remember to get up and give – whether out of bed, from your desk, or off your couch, just give! Please click the image below…

Replacing a Legend…

Pictured is our newly retired property transportation vehicle. A 2004 Honda Odyssey our residents affectionately named “Becky”. “Becky” served us well for over 2 years. And in that time, we rebuilt her transmission and front end, replaced untold amounts of flat tires, debated about whether she was green or blue, and traveled close to 300,000 miles in her! The property vehicles are integral to our operation as we use them to transport our workers to our 4 thrift stores every day. And we also use them to get our residents to and from their medical, legal, and recovery appointments. And on Sundays we use our property vehicles to take our men to and from the grocery store, as well as getting our men to and from church!

At any time during the year, we will have upwards of 150 men to transport around town. And our property vehicles get used every single day. We get every ounce of usefulness out of our vehicles. So now is the time that we ask for your help to replace “Becky”. If you, or someone you know, have a minivan or SUV that you know longer need, please visit our vehicle donation page. The vehicle does not have to be pretty.
